General Information on Indonesia e-Visa

The Indonesia e-Visa is an electronic visa on arrival issued for eligible foreigners who would like to visit Indonesia. It has been available since 2020, facilitating the visa application procedure for hundreds of tourists. This visa type is also known as the Indonesian e-VoA.

There are three types of Indonesian e-VoA, allowing you to enjoy short-term travel related to tourism, business, or transit. Once you have the approved visa, you may enjoy taking part in festivals, meeting with relatives, participating in conferences, and concluding contracts.

The Indonesian visa application online is uncomplicated and effortless - it may be completed from the comfort of your home in less than 15 minutes. All you need to do is fill in the registration form, upload the required documents, and cover the fee payment.

When your visa application is authorized, you will receive an approval notice to your e-mail address. Do not forget to print it out before the trip - it is essential to present the paper copy of your Indonesia e-Visa on arrival to obtain an approval stamp on your passport.

The approved Indonesia online visa remains valid for 5 years from the issuing date. With the visa, you can enter Indonesia numerous times for up to 60 days (in total). Please note that these 60 days are the maximum period you are allowed to stay in Bali throughout the validity of your Indonesia eVisa.

Citizens of the ASEAN countries and Timor-Leste are allowed to travel to Indonesia visa-free.

Types of Indonesian e-Visa

As for now, the Indonesian authorities issue three types of Indonesian electronic visa on arrival. Depending on the activities you would like to pursue abroad, you should apply online for a suitable Indonesia e-Visa.
  • Tourist Indonesia e-VoA - allows for taking part in cultural events, meeting with friends and family, going on sightseeing tours, enjoying holidays
  • Business Indonesia e-VoA - permits participating in professional training and business conferences, negotiating agreements, and concluding contracts
  • Transit Indonesia e-VoA - issued to pass through the Indonesian territory hassle-free

If you prefer to stay in Indonesia for a longer period, you should apply for a regular Indonesian visa at the nearest Embassy. Schedule an appointment at the office and submit the required documents in person. The Embassy Visa may be issued for purposes of employment, education, or residence.

Online Application for the Indonesian e-Visa

Before proceeding with the Indonesia e-Visa application, make sure the electronic device of your choice (laptop, tablet, smartphone) is working properly and has a stable Internet connection. This way, you will avoid any technical difficulties.

In order to apply online for the Indonesia e-Visa, follow these three easy steps:

  • Complete the application form - provide relevant information about the applicant
  • Upload the necessary documentation - files should be in a digital form (PDF, JPG, PNG)
  • Make the payment for the visa processing fee - use a credit card, debit card, or PayPal

It is essential that you remember to print out your visa approval as soon as it is delivered to your e-mail address. The document is not yet an official visa - you are still required to issue a visa on arrival to Indonesia, but the entire process will be sped up.

Documents Required for Indonesian e-Visa

Your Indonesia e-Visa application will not be complete unless you submit all the required documentation. Keep in mind the scanned documents must be clear and legible. It is best to submit them in PDF form, but JPG and PNG pictures are also acceptable.

If you wish to obtain an Indonesian visa online, do not forget about the following:

  • Passport that will stay effective for at least 6 months from the planned date of travel
  • Biometric photograph of the applicant
  • Purchased return ticket

Moreover, depending on the nationality of the applicant, it may be essential to provide some supporting documents for the Indonesian visa. In this situation, you will be asked to additionally submit proof of hotel reservation and official bank statements.

According to the latest visa policy, current visa requirements of Indonesia include a valid passport (the same that has been used for the visa application) and a printed copy of the visa approval notice (delivered to your e-mail address).

Remember, nationals of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam) may enter Indonesia visa-free.

Indonesia e-Visa Validity Period

Once your Indonesia electronic visa has been approved, it remains valid for 5 years. Make sure that your total stay planned in Indonesia is no longer than 60 days.

The Indonesia e-Visa is a multiple-entry visa allowing you to spend up to 60 days abroad. Remember that your travel should be related to purposes of tourism, business, or transit.

Transit Information

According to the visa policy of Indonesia, it is not essential to obtain a Transit Visa if you plan on transiting through the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in less than 24 hours. Passing through other Indonesian airports is also permitted, but it cannot exceed 8 hours.

Nevertheless, if you switch terminals at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, you must have a separate Transit Visa. A visa is also required for transit through Ngurah Rai Airport.
